It's a direct reference to a very popular character from a 2000's-era web cartoon called Homestar Runner.Jesse Shaverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02856177398457593702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-86053478685739138832014-07-24T10:23:22.482-03:002014-07-24T10:23:22.482-03:00The standard line among my friends was that "...The standard line among my friends was that "it isn't quaffing if you don't get your ears wet."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-43784764977747437682014-07-24T09:18:45.366-03:002014-07-24T09:18:45.366-03:00What's interesting about the sword names is th...What's interesting about the sword names is that they're actually all the same name for each sword. Glamdring is Elvish for "Foe Hammer" so hence it's "Beater" - because you beat things with a hammer! Orcrist is Elvish for "Goblin Cleaver" (Orcs and Goblins are the same thing in Tolkien) and is "Biter" - because a cleaver (or other sharp object) can be said to bite.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-60153979576723473932014-07-24T07:52:47.523-03:002014-07-24T07:52:47.523-03:00"Holy shit that module was ripping off The Ho..."Holy shit that module was ripping off The Hobbit wasn't it"
You're not gonna find ANYthing that's not ripping it off somehow anywhere near to D&D.
...
Also next chapter is the best chapter. Tolkien loved words, in fact apart from being an author, he was also a professor of linguistics at Oxford University. Some of his stories began as a way to create a world that the languages he invented in his spare time would have their context in.

Up next is Riddles In The Dark, quite possibly the finest chapter in the whole book!Rachel Ghoulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04765944479141792643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-48132722720271564732014-07-24T06:14:33.764-03:002014-07-24T06:14:33.764-03:00To quaff is to drink. This was one of my favorite books as a kid, and I still read it now and again just to try to recapture the joy of reading it that first time. Seeing it vicariously this way is awesome. :)

I just released a fantasy novel (comedic fantasy, actually) this week. (I'm kind of massively excited, because it's the first one I've done from an actual publisher.) I'd like to send you an autographed copy, if you'd be interested, as a thank you for an awesome blog and all the work you're doing to type it all up and share it with us.

Obviously I'd love it even more if you read it on the blog, but even if you don't, I'd really like to offer you a copy. (There's more about the book here: http://michaelgmunz.com/books/zeus. Just let me know if you'd like a copy.) I do occasionally imperil people at the end of a chapter, however. But only because I can't help myself. ;)

Looking forward to Riddles in the Dark!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10203373221359576888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-43812862450287067242014-07-24T02:49:38.897-03:002014-07-24T02:49:38.897-03:00to quaff: to drink heartily and merrily, especiall...to quaff: to drink heartily and merrily, especially something containing alcohol (beer is a great quaffing fluid).

to gnash one's teeth - to grind them in rage, the mental sound effect I always think of here is GRAR.

keep it up dude you are knocking it out of the park on these!LFRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13255368116910717822noreply@blogger.com
