Given that the week that just ended was my winter break, this is a bad thing. I'm not really pleased with it, but it is what it is and all I can say is I hope when school comes back I can still pick up a movie from time to time. It definitely helps that Disney movies are shorter than others, but I still think it might be time to skip to a list of recommended ones and come back to the rest when things cool down.

Anyway, I really wanted to post just to let you all know that I'm not dead, and to explain why I didn't get to watch movies this week.
And it's only just half over, too. Crazy. On the bright side, I have way too many cinnamon hearts right now and that's a really awesome thing, so... go me? Go me. :D

Anyway, now that I've got a bunch of discount burning candy, let's get into some second thoughts! Which I know you all love so much or at least tolerate cause I like writing them and pretending like there's super huge amounts of analysis to be done on Cinderella. Hey, there might be, I don't judge me. Except to say that I am awesome. And in a pretty good mood since cinnamon hearts.
Temperature went up, and then 30 cm of snow became just so much rain. Not all good news, though; flash freeze came right after and it's Jeremy Not Welcome out there right now. Also part of our ceiling leaked a lot, so we're not really happy about that. Still, I'm basically at "could have been worse" right now. Stuff can be replaced (summer job willing) after all. So yeah, this was a day. Moving on, right?
Which... I mean when you think about it that's probably exactly why I remember it in broad strokes instead of big detail. So a big thing for me during this movie is going to be not remarking on "yeah, that was in the book!" even though well you all know me, that's sort of just a thing I do.

Apparently more crap weather is headed our way. The weather people say February averages 45 cm a year of snow and in the first 10 days we managed 60. This is a bad thing. They're literally bringing dump trucks along to deal with the white stuff. Bright side is, lots more reasons for people to be indoors staying warm and watching movies. Like me!
It's just the worst thing. Well, poor circulation due to whacktons of medications over the course of eight months plus surgeries plus damage which caused the surgeries plus it's friggin' freezing in here plus it's even more well you all get the idea. Icy fingers, not on board. Just not a great thing. Hey, maybe I should take a trip down to South America!

See? There was a valid segue after all. Bet you thought there wouldn't be. Joke's on you :D
I mean, I've got all the notes and stuff written up for them, it's just finding the time and then not spending it on another movie or on homework or anyway. Here now, with some thoughts. Which are second. About Bambi. I did a thing this time, and - well I'll talk about it after the break.
Makes them sound like an ominous vampire giraffe and a scandalous 60s pinup, but I'd bet at least one of them would enjoy their comparison and it might not be the one you'd think. Anyway.

Loomie and Racy proposed that we'd do this activity and that we would do it in a sort of logical order based on, let's say, a preexisting sequential array. Then they started arguing about skipping some steps. And then somehow mysteriously steps 7 through 11 were "loaned" (you two are so full of crap I swear) "loooooaned" to some faraway personage. But we're already here, the giraffe and the cheesecake poster said plaintively, why don't we just come back to those later?

Well fine. I'll bow to your little schemes this time but I will be back for the rest of those movies. Irritable glare.
Anyway, let's get into it.
Read more »Wonderful Noisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01542277089898684170noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-57946550358763292112015-02-01T00:42:00.001-04:002015-02-01T00:42:11.666-04:00Disney's Saludos Amigos: First impressionsSix movies in. These go by so fast. And already I'm puzzled... I could have sworn it was Disney that was all fairytale princesses, but there's been a total of one so far, and that's out of five movies. Over the course of their, what... thirty? Twenty five? that would add up to something like five or six princesses maximum, which... ehh, I suppose it's a large enough group, but doesn't seem to fit what I'm thinking of. Anyway, Saludos Amigos doesn't sound like any fairy tale I know, so I guess the trend of not doing that at all continues.

Over the run of the Disney first impressions so far, I've been feeling kinda... I don't know, smug? Cold? Condescending? Artsy-fartsy movie critic? I should be more enthusiastic about getting to see these movies. Is it a problem with me? Am I overstressed from school, or overdickish from getting my education polished up? Or is it an issue with these movies themselves? I'd really like to know what you guys think, so put up your commends and we'll see what's up.

Anyway, it's time for me to move on from Bambi, so let's go to... what, would that be Spain? Sounds Spanish. I don't know Spanish. Amigos is friends, though, and saludos sounds like salut which is hello, so it's Hello Friends! in some language or other. I still think Spanish. Maybe Italian.
Hmm. Wait is it unto the breach? It's not onto the breach, that wouldn't make sense. Does unto make sense. I don't think it does either. Do unto breaches as you would ehhhh what does unto mean anyway bah screw this IT'S MOVIE TIME.

Today we made these amazing pizza twists that you can dip using Pillsbury something or other. Still prefer real pizza but as a fun shareable snack... no, screw that too I still prefer real pizza but I have to admit these are pretty awesome. Also Roomie wanted to try out his new tartine, which is this Mexican kind of pot thing shaped like a cone that you make stew with, so we had tartine and it was crazy good. Wish I could cook like that. Anyway, Roomie's sitting this one out so it's just me and the pixie.
A clown? A big hulking dimwit? Honestly I have no context for what this is going to be, other than (hopefully) entertaining. Time for movie #4 on my Disney tour. Come on and join me :D
I obviously can't promise any kind of update schedule, but I'd really like to keep on top of 1s and 2s as much as I can. On the plus side, I have notes so it's a bit easier. Doing a post for each one, so don't miss them. Of course the way these post I should be saying that in the Fantasia post... whatever. I do what I like :D
What is "Fantasia?" It's a kickass title is what it is, and fantasy is obviously involved. Also from the DVD there's Mickey Mouse and he looks like a wizard. Do I get to finally see a Mickey movie?! :D
Also for making food, but hey, I like food.

Honestly, this blizzard was completely overhyped. I mean sure it snowed but not even half as much as they were worried about. Oh well, I get movies so what do I care? :D

Moving on to Disney #2
Read more »Wonderful Noisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01542277089898684170noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-90594234460703664832015-01-27T12:03:00.001-04:002015-01-27T15:22:45.732-04:00Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: First impressionsIt's dwarves, not dwarfs, you blasted... ah, crap, Disney and I are already starting off on the wrong foot, aren't we? Screw it, I'll assume it's just some sort of holy crap this movie is like 80 years old. Grandpa just turned 84 last week. Wow this is gonna be a thing.

Anyway, they actually did cancel school and the power's holding out, so let's have us a movie!
Read more »Wonderful Noisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01542277089898684170noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-68900490399200394442015-01-26T22:53:00.001-04:002015-01-26T22:53:33.579-04:00I don't have a punny title for this, shut up LacyBossy chick over here trying to make me use her title. Anyway.

So with the Christmas holiday being what it was, I didn't get to watch more movies. Sad Jeremy. Honestly, I figured we'd be on lockdown until at least winter break (and really, maybe not even then, my profs are all talking like THIS SOUNDS LIKE A WONDERFUL TIME TO ASSIGN ALL THE EVERYTHING) but something's come up - or rather, something's about to come down.

According to Weather Canada, that would be "everything ever."

So, with tomorrow's forecast being THE WORLD SHALL BE CRAP, I as a spindled-up ball of scar tissue and mobility issues am making the executive decision to take a snow day. Now in a perfect world the universities would too, but they don't really like doing that cause they're assfaces. Regardless, tomorrow it's gonna be me, Lacy, possibly Roomie at some point, and movies. What are we watching?
Read more »Wonderful Noisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01542277089898684170noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-33203402460605092492014-12-16T18:36:00.001-04:002014-12-16T18:36:36.313-04:00Die Hard: Second thoughtsEven though I'm not going home this Christmas, turns out life is still really busy when you're shopping, preparing for a week alone and still suffering from serious mobility issues. The new place is a lot closer to campus and really close to a grocery store (I can get there very easily if I use the chair, with some difficulty on the crutches) but for actual shopping I need a drive or a bus. And the bus is not in a great place. So this is me coming back from Christmas shopping after waiting for way longer than you'd ever want to outside in the cold. I like the cold, normally. On crutches, not quite so much.

Lucky for me, it's been raining (it's been raining STUPID HARD around here) instead of snowing, so I dodged a real bullet. Can't imagine having to fend for myself with snow and ice around. I like a white Christmas as much as the next guy but all I'm picturing is me splayed out on a patch of black ice like a swatted bug. Winter on crutches is going to sssssuck. Transitioning to the cane will suck too. What's your point, Jeremy? My point is... it's good to be back on my ass watching movies with friends again. I've got to find time in my life to do more of this. You have no idea how much I missed it. And this was a pretty fun movie to come back on.
Read more »Wonderful Noisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01542277089898684170noreply@blogger.com32tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1130024768875427937.post-7079975800250558842014-12-14T14:17:00.001-04:002014-12-14T14:17:24.230-04:00Die Hard: First impressionsHi folks! I'm back from exams which suuuuuuuuuuck and finally have some time to get back to what I like to do best. Unfortunately, since I don't have the mobility to get back to what I like to do best (it's hockey), I'm going to have to settle for second best. That's right, it's time to share another movie with your friend Jeremy, and this time we're going seasonal :D

Since I can't afford to get back to Cape Breton for Christmas this year, I'm going to bring in the season with Roomie until he goes off for family whatnot. Lacy's here tonight too, and them arguing about Christmas movies is why we're now sitting here with a crowd-voted-up movie in hand. Lacy would like you all to know that it's one of the ones she wanted and that Roomie lost and is a loser. Normally I'd tell her to do her own dirty work but she brought egg nog so she wins :D
Hoo-flippity-ray for that, by the way. Assuming anyone wants to read about that and what else is going on in life, here goes!
He'll be there for a few days. I checked in on him last night and he's doing okay except for the pain. He's not in life threatening trouble. There's a problem with his leg that they need to deal with and it's just going to be a big setback for his rehab.

Jer says hi to everyone and hopes you're all doing well. He misses the blog and told me to write "fuck squirrels" so there it is. I'll keep an eye on the comments here and pass along any well wishes and comments when I go in to see him next. You can also send them to my email (pixelacy at gmail) or email Jer and he'll get your messages when he's out of the hospital.

The Patreon plan is getting shelfed. Between school coming up, rehab and this happening, I don't know how much time Jer will have for blogging anymore. Contributions are still welcome but Jeremy basically just had the month taken out from under him and I'm not going to make any promises on his time or availability.

I know how Jer feels about the whole thing, so I'll put it out there that well-wishes are more valuable than dollars right now. I'd like some nice things to take in to him when I go visit on Thursday ^_^
Did it just mean "strange" or something back then? That's kind of unfortunate, considering... anyway, I'm not gonna step in it just because it's a slow week for comments, but if someone could pleeease enlighten me it would be great. Anyway.
BEORN IS AWESOME. :D
